DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY: Sometime between 9 p.m. July 10 and 4 a.m. July 11, suspect(s) shot out 12 vehicle windows and two residential glass front doors with a BB gun in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Bannister Circle. THEFT: On July 10 at 7 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Bed, Bath and Beyond located at 3270 Crain Highway in Waldorf for the report of theft. Investigation revealed the accused, Eric Warren Ammann, 34, of Suitland, placed items in the bottom of a baby stroller and exited the store without paying for them. Store employees provided officers with a description of Ammann, his vehicle and tag number. Officers located the vehicle traveling northbound on Crain Highway near Cedarville Road and attempted to stop it. Ammann threw several items out of his vehicle prior to stopping. The stolen items were recovered from the bottom of the stroller. Officers located a leather pouch containing cocaine residue, which the accused had thrown from the vehicle. Ammann had his 3-year-old and infant daughters in the vehicle during the incident and they were not injured. He was arrested and charged with theft more than $500, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Ammann also had outstanding warrants in Charles and Anne Arundel counties; he was wanted in Charles County for failure to appear on a theft charge and a probation violation. He is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner. Officer S. Chandler investigated.
BURGLARY: Sometime between 12:40 a.m. and 4:18 a.m. on July 10, suspect(s) forcibly entered the front door of Monster Wireless located at 10195 Berry Road in Waldorf, damaged the display cases and stole cell phones, jewelry and clothing. HATE CRIME: On July 9 at 7:15 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Stone Court in Waldorf for the report of a white swastika at the end of the driveway. Investigation revealed suspect(s) drew the swastika with caulk and the caulk gun was found at the scene. BURGLARY: Sometime between 5 p.m. July 5 and 10 a.m. July 6, suspect(s) entered trailers behind Matthew Henson Middle School located at 3535 Livingston Road in Indian Head and stole a JVC television, a Panasonic video cassette recorder, a NCS computer system and an FYI computer system. ASSAULT: On July 6 at 5:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to a residence in the 7800 block of Fairgrounds Road in La Plata for the report of an armed person having an argument. Investigation revealed a 51-year-old man had been caring for his daughters 4-year-old son at the residence. When the boys father, a 26-year-old Indian Head man, arrived at the residence, the men began arguing outside about the boy. During the argument, the boy returned inside the home. The grandfather retrieved a shotgun from inside and a struggle over the gun ensued, during which a shot was fired that struck an unoccupied parked car nearby. The boys father gained control of the gun and fled with it in his vehicle. Officers located him a short time later and stopped him. After further investigation, officers arrested the grandfather and charged him with first degree assault. His name is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim and the boy. Officer J. THEFT: Sometime between 2 p.m. June 26 and 7 a.m. June 27, suspect(s) forced entry into a Northern Pipeline Construction work trailer on the corner of Demarr Road and St. Charles Parkway in Waldorf. The suspects stole an orange and black Wacher pavement tamper, a green and black Wacher pavement tamper and two yellow and black Wacher generators with 5.5 horsepower. THEFT: On June 29 at 2 p.m., Officer J. Timko of the Charles County Sheriffs office responded to Spencers at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a shoplifter in custody. Investigation revealed a 17-year-old Pomfret boy attempted to steal a wallet from the store by was apprehended by an employee and detained until police arrived. Officer Timko charged the boy with theft less than $500 and released him to a guardian.
