Prince Frederick Man Dead; Believed Drowned in Swimming Pool


On Sunday, July 9 at 3:34 a.m. the Calvert Control Center dispatched North Beach Volunteer Ambulance #18 to a home on Christiana Parran Road in Chesapeake Beach in reference to a drowning. Cpl. Scianna Roach of the Maryland State Police Barrack "U" as well as Sgt. Ronald Naughton and Tpr. Scott Bennett of the Calvert Investigative Team all responded to the scene. The ambulance arrived and transported the victim, identified as James I. Brooks, Jr., 25, of Prince Frederick, to Calvert Memorial Hospital prior to the arrival of the police. The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Investigators learned from a witness that the victim was observed at the bottom of the swimming pool. The exact cause of death is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Tpr. Bennett at 410-535-2800 ext. 2597.
