18-Y/O Male Celebrates Fourth of July by Crashing Into Rose's Bar


On Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at 6:00 am, TFC Davis of the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack, observed a Nissan truck traveling southbound on Route 235 in the northbound lane, at Mill Stone Landing Road, California. TFC Davis turned his patrol vehicle around at the intersection of Mill Stone Landing Road and followed the vehicle with emergency lights and siren on in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued on its way failing to slow for posted stop signs and speed bumps.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop approximately 20 feet inside the barThe vehicle finally drove into the parking lot of Rose’s bar and impacted with the wall. The vehicle eventually came to a stop approximately 20 feet inside the bar. Verbal commands were given to the driver instructing him to exit the truck. The driver ignored the commands and subsequently put the truck into reverse. He accelerated almost striking TFC Michael Davis and TFC Matthew Davis in the process. Troopers ultimately gained entry into the vehicle and placed the driver, Zackary Grant Silvast, 18, of California, under arrest.

Mr. Silvast was charged with two counts of assault on police officers, resisting arrest, DUI, and numerous traffic violations. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review.
