Maryland State Police Reports for St. Mary's County


On Sunday, July 2, 2006 at 3:07 pm, TFC T. Quade arrested Melissa Gail Wall, 19, of Lexington Park, on an outstanding District Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear in court for a driving uninsured vehicle charge. Ms. Wall was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. (EE12315)

On Monday, July 3, 2006 at 10:15 am, TFC T. Quade arrested Larry Glenmore Butler, 52, of Leonardtown, on an outstanding District Court Bench Warrant for failing to appear in court on charges of failing to stop after an accident and driving an uninsured vehicle. Bond on this warrant was set at $250.00. A Circuit Court Warrant for failing to appear on a charge of failing to attach registration plates to front and rear was also served. Mr. Butler was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (DA77585, 18K06000119)

On Monday, July 3, 2006 at 1:20 pm, Tpr. T. Long responded to Holy Angles Church, Avenue, for a reported theft. The complainant advised that the Pepsi machine, at the Rectory, had been damaged. Further investigation revealed the door had been pried open and the money box removed. Investigation is continuing. (0682007208)

On Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at 2:45 am, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle for failing to driver right of the center line on Route 470 at Route 242 in Avenue. A check through MVA indicated the driver’s, Sarah Caroline Watts, 42, of Colonial Beach VA, license was revoked in Virginia. A search incident to arrest revealed a homemade smoking device, containing burnt cocaine, in the ashtray. Ms. Watts was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of CDS paraphernalia, and driving while revoked. She was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. On Wednesday, July 5, 2006 at 4:10 pm, Tpr. G. White stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 5 at Route 242, in Morganza. A check through MVA showed the driver was suspended and had two open warrants from Charles County. Tpr. G. White arrested Janean Annette McDowney Hazel, 36, of Charlotte Hall, on a two Charles County Bench Warrants for failing to appear in court on a driving while suspended/revoked charge. She was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review on one warrant and held until paying $3,000 bond on the second. (DM34364, CE56192)

On Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 2:28 am, TFC T. Quade stopped a vehicle on Route 235 at Exploration Park Dr, Lexington Park, for speeding. A check through MVA on the driver, Troy Sean Washington, 25, of Huntingtown, indicated his license was suspended. A search incident to arrest was conducted. A bag containing marijuana was located under the driver’s seat. Mr. Washington was charged with possession of marijuana, driving while suspended and speeding. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. (0682007304)

On Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 9:25 pm, TFC L. Nims arrested Norvin J. Dobson, 44, of Lexington Park, on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to follow conditions of probation on a burglary charge. Mr. Dobson was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (6Q00032108)

On Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 12:45 am, TFC T. Quade arrested Scott Timothy Murphy, 34, of Mechanicsville on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear on charges of driving while suspended, driving while revoked, and fleeing and eluding of police officer. Mr. Murphy was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (EE12986)

On Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 1:40 pm, TFC J. Fleetwood arrested Kenneth Earl Shorter Jr., 43, of Ridge, on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear in court on a charge of driving while suspended. Mr. Shorter was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held until posting a $3,500 bond. (EE13475)
