MSP Reports for Calvert County


POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: On 7-4-06 @ 12:15 AM, TFC Keen stopped a vehicle @ MD Route 4 and Ball Road, St. Leonard, for a traffic violation. After contacting the operator, Brendan James Evans, 19, of Lusby, TFC Keen detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A K9 search was conducted and suspected marijuana, and paraphernalia was located in the vehicle. Mr. Evans was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, possession (not marijuana), and possession of paraphernalia. Mr. Evans was incarcerated in the Calvert County Detention Center where he awaited a hearing with the District Court Commissioner.

POSSESSION OF CDS (Cocaine): On 6-29, @ 1:30 PM, Trooper Stern stopped a vehicle @ Catalina Drive and Silver Rock Road, Lusby, for a traffic violation. Trooper Stern contacted the operator, Bradley Mitchell Petty, 20, of Lusby, and his passenger, Joshua Lees Judd, 19, of Lusby, when he detected the odor of burning marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Upon requesting Mr. Petty’s driver’s license, he advised Trooper Stern that he did not have his license in his possession. A check through Motor Vehicle Administration revealed that Mr. Petty did not have a valid driver’s license. At this point, Petty was placed under arrest. A search of Mr. Petty’s vehicle was conducted, and a small baggie containing suspected CDS, Cocaine, was located. At this time, the passenger, Mr. Judd was placed under arrest. Both were charged with possession of a non-controlled substance reasonably believed to be a controlled danger substance. Both were taken to the Calvert County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT: On 6-30 @ 11:42 AM, a employee of Southern Maryland Community Network advised that her purse had been stolen while shopping at a store in Prince Frederick. The victim advised her purse contained several credit cards, US currentcy, and a paycheck. The investigation is continuing by TFC Whipp.

POSSESSION OF CDS (Marijuana): On 7-1 @ 1:30 PM, TFC Whipp stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation WB @ Calvert Beach road. The operator, Stuart Gregory Sargent, 45, of St. Leonard, refused to sign and accept a citation issued by TFC Whipp and was subsequently placed under arrest. During the search of Sargent’s vehicle, suspected marijuana was located along with a metal smoking device. Sargent was charged with failing to attach plates at front and rear, failure of individual driving on highway to sign signature if requested by police, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia. Mr. Sargent was taken to the Calvert County Detention Center awaiting his appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

THEFT: On 7-3- @ 12:04 PM, an unknown subject forcibly entered a vehicle on the parking lot of Prince Frederick Ford and removed the vehicle. The vehicle stolen was a Silver Ford Windstar Minivan. There were no tags on the vehicle. The investigation is continuing by Trooper Stein.
