On June 27, 2006 at 1:35 pm, TFC J. Linger and TFC A. Rossignol arrested George R. Sams, 44, of Mechanicsville, on three outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of possession of marijuana, driving while suspended, driving uninsured, and uttering a bad check. A search incident to arrest revealed percocet pills in his pants pocket. Ms. Sams did not have the pills in the required prescription bottle nor could he provide a prescription for the pills. Mr. Sams was charged by TFC J. Linger with possession of percocet. Mr. Sams was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (4Q00029754, 2P00042184, 6P00047410)

On June 27, 2006 at 2:00 pm, Tpr. E. Evans stopped a vehicle on Pegg Road at Liberty Street, Lexington Park, when the driver was observed not wearing a seatbelt. Upon contact with the driver, William Jervon Butler, 25, of Mechanicsville, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected. A probable cause search was conducted and one hand rolled cigarette, containing marijuana, was located in the ashtray. Mr. Butler was placed under arrest. A search of his person revealed a bag, containing crack cocaine, in his left pants pocket and a bag, containing marijuana, in his underwear. Mr. Butler was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. (0682006952)

On June 30, 2006 at 3:11 pm, Tpr. T. Long arrested Benjamin Jay Shobert, 24, of Mechanicsville, on two outstanding bench warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while suspended and revoked. Mr. Shobert was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held on no bond. (DX93957, 6Q00033130)

On June 30, 2006 at 11:34 pm, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle for failing to reduce high beams, on Route 235 at Joy Lane in Hollywood. The driver, John Vincent Medley, 42, of California, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence. A search incident to arrest revealed a smoking device containing burnt cocaine in the center console. A check through NCIC indicated an open protective order showing Mr. Medley was to have no contact with Lisa Sewell. The passenger was identified as Lisa Rae Sewell, 40, of Lexington Park. Mr. Medley was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of CDS paraphernalia, DUI and violation of a protective order. Ms. Sewell was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Both were taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. On July 1, 2006 at 6:30 am, TFC J. Linger, arrested Terry Lynn Brown, 36, of Chesapeake Beach, on an outstanding bench warrant for failing to appear on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving while suspended and revoked. Mr. Brown was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held without bond. (3Q00032959)

On July 2, 2006 at 12:56 am, TFC J. Linger stopped a vehicle for speeding on Route 242 at Route 234 in Clements. Upon contact with the driver, Stephanie Ann Gross, 46, of Hughesville, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. Ms. Gross was subsequently arrested for DUI. A search incident to arrest revealed a folded dollar bill and a straw, containing cocaine, in her pants pocket. A bag containing marijuana was located in her purse. Ms. Gross was charged with DUI, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and held pending a bond review. (0682007154)
