Man Assaults Victim; Then Turns on Investigating Officer


On June 21 at 7:40 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence located on Mooncoin Circle in Waldorf, for a report of an assault. Officers entered the residence and found an assault in progress. Officer K. Klezia separated the two men. One of the men, David Christopher Long, 30, of Waldorf, began to struggle with Officer Klezia, striking him in the face with a closed fist.

Long was subsequently subdued and placed under arrest. He was charged with assault on a police officer, second-degree assault and resisting arrest. Long is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.

The victim of the first assault, a 26-year-old Waldorf man, and Officer Klezia were not injured.
