Road Check 2006 Removes 9 Unsafe Commercial Vehicles from the Road


The St Mary's County Sheriff's Office commercial vehicle inspectors DFC Michael D. Peacher and DFC Harold D. Young recently participated in "Road Check 2006." Road Check 2006 is a nationwide, multi-jurisdictional initiative through the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance to promote Commercial Vehicle safety on the roadway. During the road check in St. Mary's County, thirteen commercial motor vehicles and drivers were inspected for safety. Nine of the thirteen vehicle were found to be unsafe to operate on the roadway. They were placed out of service and removed from the roadway for mechanical and load securement violations. In addition, a total of 8 citations and 5 warnings were written.
