Bank Robber Escapes from Provident Bank After Grabbing the Loot


On June 5 at 11:36 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Provident Bank, located inside Shoppers Food Warehouse at 1170 Smallwood Drive West in Waldorf, for a report of a bank robbery. The investigation revealed that a male suspect approached a teller, displayed a note indicating a robbery and demanded money. The teller complied and the suspect fled the store on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of money.

Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit responded for the investigation while technicians from the Forensic Science Unit processed the scene. The Sheriff’s Office has obtained a photograph of the suspect from surveillance equipment (shown at the top of this article). The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s and is between 5 feet 6 inches tall and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He has a goatee and was wearing a black skull cap, sunglasses, a blue, long sleeve button-up shirt with a black T-shirt underneath and dark work-style pants.
