Waldorf Burglar Subdued w/Help of Citizen

On June 4 at 9:47 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 20 block of Mooncoin Circle in Waldorf for a citizen’s report of suspicious activity and a person with a gun. The investigation revealed that the suspect was banging on doors and trying to get into houses. Sgt. J. Powell observed the suspect run out of a residence on Mooncoin Circle and subdued him with help from a citizen.

The homeowner, a 65-year-old Waldorf man, advised the suspect had just broken down his door and struck him with a stool. As officers were attempting to search the suspect he began kicking the officers.

The suspect was identified as Ronald Lee Woodland, 28, of Waldorf. Woodland was arrested and charged with burglary and assault and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

None of the officers were injured. Officer Y. Austin investigated.
