On June 3 at 11:42 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 4300 block of Lady Trisha Court in Pomfret for a report of a large fight at a party. Investigation revealed Aleksey Chunak, 25, of La Plata sprayed several people during the fight with pepper spray and discharged a handgun into the air. He threatened to kill everyone at the party and discharged the handgun close to the head of a 19-year-old Waldorf man.
The suspect was wrestled to the ground by people at the party. No one was injured by gunfire. Numerous people, including an 18-year-old Pomfret man, a 16-year-old White Plains girl and an 18-year-old Waldorf man, were treated at the scene for minor injuries which occurred from the fight.
Chunak was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer P. Kirk investigated.
