On May 26 at 11:20 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 11300 block of Kerrick Court in La Plata for a report of underage drinking at a party. During the investigation, James Jerome Curtis, 23, of Cobb Island became disorderly and assaulted Officer L. E. Payne. Curtis was charged with assaulting a police officer and disorderly conduct and is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. No other arrests were made.
