Charles County Sheriffs officers are investigating two vehicle thefts and an attempted vehicle theft in Waldorf on May 29.
At 3:35 p.m., Officer R. Gottschall responded to Bob Evans, located at 2355 Crain Highway in Waldorf, for the report of a stolen 1998 black Ford Taurus with tinted windows and a red Korn decal in the rear window. The car bears Maryland tags 9ANY67.
At 3:46 p.m., officers responded to Meadow Lane for the report of the occupants of a blue Dodge Ram with Maryland tags 61L813 driving through the area and checking for unlocked vehicles. Officers responded to the area but did not locate the vehicle. A check of the registration revealed the Ram was reported stolen in Prince Georges County.
At 3:56 p.m., Officer J. Timko responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Tanglewood Drive in Waldorf for the report of the attempted theft of a 2002 burgundy Chrysler Concorde. Investigation revealed a male suspect exited the same Ram seen on Meadow Lane and entered the Chrysler. The Ram then fled the area. The suspect damaged the steering column and the ignition of the Chrysler in an attempt to steal it. However, he was unsuccessful and fled the area on foot.
At 4:32 p.m., Cpl. J. Miles responded to a residence in the 11900 block of Calico Woods Place in Waldorf for the report of a stolen gray 2006 Dodge Durango bearing Maryland tags 246M662.
Officers believed the suspects in the stolen Dodge Ram are involved in both thefts. They are described only as five black males between 18 and 20 years old. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-7777.
