Fatal Collision: 05/11/06 4:48 a.m. Troopers from the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack responded to southbound MD Rt. 210 north of Crestwood Place, Charles County, Maryland for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a metro transit bus and a pedestrian. Investigation revealed James Reed Turner Jr., 24 yrs, Indian Head, was attempting to cross southbound MD Rt. 210 when he was struck by a Washington D.C. Metro Transit Authority Bus, being operated by Michele Janette Moni Collins, 37 yrs., Waldorf. The bus was not carrying any passengers and was traveling southbound on MD Rt. 210 north of Crestwood Place when Mr. Turner entered the travel path of the bus.
Mr. Turner was pronounced dead on the scene. Ms. Collins refused treatment on the scene. Preliminary investigation reveals alcohol was not a factor in this collision. TFC S.
