SCHOOL BUS CRASH: On May 9 at 4:22 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 15000 block of Potomac River Drive in Cobb Island for the report of a school bus crash. Investigation revealed bus #9 driven by Marie C. Bowie, 44, of Welcome side-swiped an unoccupied 2000 Ford Taurus which was partially in the roadway. There were nine students on the bus between 9 and 11 years old and no one was injured. Officer D. Brady investigated.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On May 9 at 11:10 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 3700 block of Dr. Samuel Mudd Road in Waldorf for the report of a motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed a 1997 Chevrolet box truck driven by Christopher Clinton, 27, of Baltimore was traveling south on Dr. Samuel Mudd Road when he lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crossed the center line, struck a ditch and rolled over on its side. The truck leaked a small amount of diesel fuel onto the roadside; it was also carrying several gallons of a liquid chemical solvent which did not leak. The Maryland Department of Environment, the Charles County Hazmat team and fire department personnel responded to the scene. Clinton was not injured. Cpl. K. Wilson investigated.

THEFT: On May 5 at 9:50 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to J.C. Penney located at 11130 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of an employee theft. Investigation revealed a 17-year-old Waldorf girl had made several false returns over the last three months resulting in the theft of several thousand dollars. She was charged with theft scheme under $500, theft scheme over $500, theft under $500 and theft over $500 and released to the custody of her parents. Officer R. Kimble investigated.
