Detectives with the Charles County Sheriff's Office have arrested five juveniles in connection with two burglaries and a vehicle theft in March.
The accused are charged with stealing a Dodge Caravan from the Armed Forces Recruiting Center located at 3077 Festival Way in Waldorf. At 5:40 a.m., they forced entry into Cingular, located at 3650 Crain Highway in Waldorf, and stole two cash registers and several cell phones. They fled Cingular and went to Wine Cellar, located at 2971 Festival Way, where they stole liquor and scratch-off lottery tickets. They fled Wine Cellar in the Caravan and a second vehicle. They caused more than $1,500 in damage and stole more than $4,000 worth of merchandise.
Detectives discovered these burglaries were related to others in Maryland and Virginia. Detectives identified the suspects as being between the ages of 14 and 17, and all reside in Prince George's County. On May 2, investigators in Charles, Prince George's and Fairfax counties arrested the five juveniles. All five were charged in Charles County for the two commercial burglaries and two stolen vehicles. Searches conducted at three of the suspects' residences yielded additional evidence. As a result of these arrests, additional burglaries in Fairfax County, Herndon, Virginia, Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties will be closed. One additional adult arrest is pending in the Charles County cases. Detective E. Budd investigated.
