DUI Stops Nets Heroin Arrest


On May 5th, 2006 Maryland State Troopers responded to the Park Hall area for the reported intoxicated driver. The vehicle and the suspect were located and the driver, Suspect Paul Anthony Kovacs (Age 24 of California, Maryland) was arrested for driving while intoxicated. A search incident to arrest revealed a quantity of suspected heroin.

A K-9 scan by Sheriff’s Office K-9 Slouber was conducted and the vehicle was stored. BCI Narcotics Detectives responded and a search and seizure warrant was obtained. The continued search revealed additional illegal substances and related paraphernalia as well as a bullet proof vest.

Suspect Kovacs and his passenger, Suspect Lisa Marie Long (Age 25 of Mechanicsville) were charged with possession of heroin. Additional charges and seizures may follow a State’s Attorney’s Office review.
