The Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services are inviting the public to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the recent improvements at Forest Landing waterfront public landing, located in Hollywood, Maryland.
"We hope that citizens will join us at the public landing Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 4:00 p.m.," stated Commissioner President Thomas F. McKay. "The renovated public landing will provide improved water access and enhanced boat launching facilities on the Patuxent."
The funding for the improvements at Forest Landing was received from the Damage Assessment Restoration Plan for the Chalk Point Oil Spill and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Waterway Improvement Grant Program. The project involved construction of a new boat ramp, a new pier with a cat walk and deck and a floating dock. Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) improvements were also addressed as part of the project.
Directions to the site: from MD 235 south, turn left on Sotterley Road at the intersection of Sotterley Road and MD 245, to right on Forest Landing Road and follow the road down to the waterfront public landing.
Any questions or comments regarding the Forest Landing Improvement Project or ceremony should be addressed with the Department of Recreation, Parks and Community Services at (301) 475-4200 ext. 1811.
