St. Mary's County Library Director, Kathleen Reif, has announced that a process is underway to complete a Library Services Analysis & Plan for St. Mary's County through the year 2015. This study will include a comprehensive analysis of the library system, the current levels of service and the needs through 2015.
"This is a very exciting opportunity for our county residents. This is the first time that this kind of analysis and planning process has been done for library services and facilities in our county," Reif states. She suggests that the recommended services could include any of the following: traditional full-service library buildings, storefront mini-branch operations, kiosks, mobile vans, information technologies, and telecommunication infrastructure.
The public is invited to participate in focus groups set up to discuss the future needs and services of the St. Mary's County Libraries. They will be conducted on Thursday, April 27, at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at Lexington Park Library; and Friday, April 28, at 8:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Leonardtown Library. The final report will be presented in August 2006.
