MSP Reports for St. Mary's; Drugs & DUI


On Saturday, April 1, 2006 at 1:07 am, TFC P. Trossbach stopped a vehicle for speeding, 53 mph in a 40 mph zone, on Mervell Dean Road in Hollywood. Upon contact with the driver, Joseph Wayne Bosse, 23, of Hollywood, a plastic bag containing "crack" cocaine was observed on the passenger seat. Mr. Bosse was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003576)

On Monday, April 3, 2006 at 12:56 am, TFC P. Trossbach and DFC R. Wood, St. Mary's County Sheriff's Department, responded to an apartment in the 28000 block of Three Notch Road, Mechanicsville, for a reported CDS violation. The homeowner was contacted and advised of the reason for police response. The owner consented to a search of the residence. When a guest, John Patrick Kravats, 40, of Mechanicsville, was advised of the search, he retrieved ten individually folded papers containing powder cocaine. The residence was searched and no additional contraband was recovered. Mr. Kravats was arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003644)

On Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 11:24 pm, TFC P. Trossbach stopped a vehicle for having an inoperable tag light, on Route 247 at Route 5 in Loveville. The driver was identified as Joseph William Butler, 40, of Leonardtown. Mr. Butler was asked to exit the vehicle so a pat down for officer safety could be conducted after several indicators were detected by TFC Trossbach. During a pat down, a small bulge was felt in his pants pocket. The bulge turned out to be a paper towel containing cocaine. Mr. Butler was placed under arrest. During a search incident to arrest, a glass smoking device, containing burnt crack cocaine residue, was recovered from his shirt pocket. Mr. Butler was charged with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003722)

On Sunday, April 9, 2006 at 1:12 am, Tpr. G. White stopped a vehicle for failing to yield the right of way on Route 5 at Charlotte Hall School Road in Charlotte Hall. The driver identified himself as Glenn Elliott Thompson, 49, of Loveville. During conversation with Mr. Thompson, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. After Mr. Thompson performed unsatisfactory on the field sobriety tests, he was arrested for DUI. A check through MVA indicated Mr. Thompson's driving privilege was suspended and revoked. A search incident to arrest revealed a metal smoking device, containing cocaine residue, in his pants pocket. Mr. Thompson was charged with Possession of CDS Paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations. He was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held pending a bail review. (0682003890)

On Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at 10:40 pm, Tpr. E. Evans arrested Shane Samuel Simon, 19, of Lusby on a warrant for Failing to Appear in Court to answer to a charge of driving while suspended. Mr. Simon was taken to the St. Mary's County Detention Center and held until posting a $3500 bail. (DX94852)
