"Rockin' and Reel-in" Fishing Contest offers $4,000 in Prize Money
With the beginning of the sport-fishing season in mid April, the St. Mary's County Division of Tourism announces the "Rockin' and Reel-in" fishing contest.
Produced in conjunction with the St. Mary's County Charter Captains Association, the contest is designed to reel-in fishermen throughout the mid-Atlantic region and to introduce the area's growing business and residential communities to one of St. Mary's County's traditional sporting activities. Participating St. Mary's County charter captains are now accepting trip bookings for the contest period, which runs from August 1 through October 31, 2006.
Cash prizes, totaling $4,000, will be awarded for the longest rockfish: $2,000; the longest bluefish: $1,500; and the longest croaker: $500. Contest sponsors include The Tackle Box, Inc. and Guy Distributing Company.
