Juvenile Arrested for Thefts from Local Fire Departments


Deputy William T. Kile received information that a 17 year old juvenile was arrested for a theft from the Hughesville Fire Department and that this may be related to cases in St. Mary's County. Deputy Kile made contact with the juvenile and parent. The juvenile stated that did break into the fire department and took Fire Jeep for a ride in Charlotte Hall and Golden Beach. The juvenile then admitted to a second break in to Mechanicsville Fire Department and stealing four fire helmets. Deputy Shawn Carberry P-167 took the report (CCN: 14322-06).

All stolen items and fire department jeep was recovered and turned back over to fire department personnel. A request for juvenile petition was complete on the juvenile for the following charges: Reference CCN: 14711-06 Charges: Burglary 1st Degree, Theft Plus $500, Motor Vehicle Theft, Maliciously Destruction. Of Property Less than $500.00. Reference: CCN: 14322-06: Burglary 1st Degree, Theft Plus $500 and Maliciously Destruction of Property Less than $500.00. Contact was made with a Juvenile Case Worker and the defendant was transport to Cheltenham Detention Center pending a hearing.
