Charles County Sheriff Reports


MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On March 28 at 9:44 p.m., a 1998 Ford Ranger driven by Stanley Jay Langley, 48, of Indian Head, was traveling west in the 5700 block of Smallwood Church Road in Indian Head when he lost control of the vehicle, which crossed the center line, struck a tree and overturned. Langley was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He became trapped underneath the front of his vehicle. Langley was flown to Prince George’s Hospital Center with life-threatening injuries. Officer R. Glover of the Charles County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Operations Unit is investigating.

ROBBERY: On March 28 at 10:55 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to an alarm at Beantown Shell, located at 3620 Mattawoman-Beantown Road in Waldorf. Investigation revealed a male suspect entered the business, implied he was in possession of a handgun and demanded the money in the cash register. The clerk complied and the suspect then fled on foot. The suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs between 145 and 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark corduroy jacket, dark knit hat and black shoes. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer K. ASSAULT: On March 28 at 1 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Dakota Street in Bryans Road for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman were arguing when the woman threw a porcelain cup at the man, causing a laceration to the man’s neck. The woman fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival. During the investigation, she returned to the residence. She was identified as Rebecca Lorraine George, 42, of Bryans Road, and charged with second degree assault. She was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. The victim refused medical treatment. Officer R. Brown investigated.

BURGLARY: On March 28 at 10:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 2800 block of Baptist Church Road in Nanjemoy for the report of three suspects attempting to break into a garage by using an axe and shattering the side door window. The suspects fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspects. One suspect was described as a black male between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black jacket and black hooded sweatshirt over his head. The second suspect is described as a black male wearing a dark blue jacket and black hooded sweatshirt. The third suspect was not described, as he was standing in the shadows. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. Brown is investigating.

ARMED ROBBERY: On March 29 at 11:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to AMF Bowl, located at 11920 Acton Lane in Waldorf for the report of an assault. Investigation revealed the victim, a 27-year-old Waldorf man, was standing outside of the business when a male suspect approached him and asked if he had any money. The victim told the suspect that he was not going to give him any money. At that time the suspect attempted to sell the victim fake diamond earrings and the victim told him he was not interested. The suspect then asked for $10 and the victim reached into his pants pocket to see if he had $10. When the victim went to put his money back into his pocket, the suspect slapped the money from the victim’s hand. When the suspect went to pick the money up from the ground, the victim punched the suspect. The suspect then pulled a razor blade from his pocket and cut the victim in the cheek causing a deep laceration and other injuries. The suspect was able to obtain some of the money and then fled the area behind the bowling alley. The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s with a medium complexion and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. He was wearing a dark jacket and blue jeans. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer R. Garrett is investigating.
