Man Who Should Not Have Been Driving Flees Accident Scene

On March 18 at 8:17 p.m., a Ford F350 was westbound in the 7400 block of Pomfret Road in La Plata when the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a guardrail and several trees. The driver, later identified as Jesse Boarman Estevez, 28, of Pomfret, fled the scene. The passenger, Jennifer Chinault, 29, of Waldorf, sustained incapacitating injuries that were not life threatening and was transported by ambulance to Fort Washington Hospital Center.

Officers located Estevez and charged him with several personal injury crash violations, including failure to stay at the scene, failure to render aid and failure to notify police, as well as two counts of driving without insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving a vehicle displaying tags issued to another vehicle, driving with expired tags and failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision. Cpl. R. Cadrette investigated.
