On March 17 at 1:23 a.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Trefoil Place in Waldorf for a strong arm robbery report. Investigation revealed a 24-year-old Bryantown man, who is an employee of Waldorf Cab Company, was dispatched to La Quinta Inn, located at 11770 Business Park Drive in Waldorf, to pick up a customer. The customer told the victim to drive him to Tanglewood so he could get change for the cab fare. The cab driver complied. When they arrived, the customer went into a residence but returned a short time later and got back into the cab. He ordered the driver to put his hands on top of the steering wheel. The customer then stole an undisclosed amount of money, a Nextel cell phone and the keys to the cab and fled the scene. The driver stopped a citizen, who called police.
The suspect is described as a tall, dark-complexioned black male in his early 20s wearing a dark skull cap and a green and brown long sleeve shirt described as plain and sweater-like. He has a thin build, weighs 160 pounds and is between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He spoke with a thick Caribbean accent.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriffs Office at 301-932-7777. Officer C. L. Shaw is investigating.
