Drug Arrests in Charles County


DRUG POSSESSION: On March 20 at 2:07 a.m., Officer K. Klezia conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for speeding at the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and Dartmouth Road in Waldorf. During the traffic stop, Cpl. R. Leukhardt and his K9 partner responded and scanned the exterior of the vehicle. The K9 indicated there were drugs in the car and a subsequent search revealed marijuana and prescription drugs were in the trunk. Joseph Frederick Klopfer, 20, of Waldorf was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, illegal possession of prescription drugs, illegal possession of prescription of prescription drugs with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and driving with an expired license. He was held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.

DRUG POSSESSION: On March 8 at 9:10 a.m., Cpl. C. McCue was driving east on St. Patrick's Drive and observed the vehicle in front of his cross the center line several times and nearly strike a curb. He conducted a traffic stop. Officer R. Kimble responded to the scene and determined the driver was under the influence of marijuana. Officer Kimble arrested the driver, David Premier Strothers, 23, of Clinton, and charged him with driving while impaired by marijuana, failure to drive to the right of the center line and driving a vehicle with suspended registration. Strothers was held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the district court commissioner.
