On March 9 about 9:20 a.m., the Charles County Sheriff's Office responded to a bomb threat at the Charles County Courthouse, located at 200 Charles Street in La Plata. Investigation revealed a male suspect called the District Court and said there was a bomb in the Courthouse. Officers and K9 teams conducted a search but did not locate anything suspicious. The building was not evacuated.
This is the third bomb threat to be made against the Courthouse since the beginning of the year. No arrests have been made. The Sheriff's Office reminds citizens that making a bomb threat is a serious crime and when suspects are identified, they will be arrested.
