On March 7 at 4:30 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Amber Leaf Apartments on Amber Leaf Place in Waldorf for the report of an attempted strong arm robbery. Investigation revealed a 16-year-old Indian Head boy was outside waiting for someone to pick him up when a vehicle occupied by at least four people stopped next to him. One of the occupants exited the vehicle, approached the victim, grabbed him by his arm and attempted to hit him. The victim's mother arrived on the scene and chased the suspects away. The suspects fled the scene without taking anything.
The Sheriff's Office has identified the suspect as an 18-year-old La Plata man but has not identified the other suspects in the car. The car was described as a green 1997 Oldsmobile sedan.
