NAVAIR Awards $82M Contract for F-18E/F Aircraft Electronic Warfare System

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., March 6 /PRNewswire/—ITT Industries, Inc. (NYSE:ITT) has been awarded an $82 million contract for Full Rate Production of the AN/ALQ-214(V)2 Countermeasures Systems from the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, MD during fiscal year 2006. Total potential contract value with priced options is $454.7 million. This significant part of the U.S. Navy's Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures (IDECM) System is installed on the U.S. Navy's F-18E/F fighter attack aircraft to allow pilots to evade enemy radar. This new award is in addition to ITT contracts for $146.1 million for the ALQ-214 received since 2004.

The contract includes 264 systems to be delivered for F-18E/F fighter attack aircraft. Subsequent production contracts, spares and associated work could significantly add to the overall program's value.

"This is an extraordinary example of earning customer trust and confidence through consistent and exceptional performance," said Rich Sorelle, Director of Tactical Programs at ITT's Electronic Systems Division in Clifton, NJ. "Our ability to continuously meet our commitments and exceed customer expectations resulted in this significant award."

ITT demonstrated superior technical and program performance during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) and Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) phases of the program. The system successfully passed the Navy's most stringent and grueling performance tests and aircraft qualification, Operational Test and Evaluation (OPEVAL), on its first attempt; an unprecedented accomplishment. ITT has maintained a 100 percent on-time delivery rate of the system through all phases of the program.

ITT's Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt said, "This is a stellar example of outstanding teamwork on a technically challenging project. Our IDECM team demonstrated unparalleled persistence, passion and focus for customer satisfaction. This contract further solidifies our strong production base and growth strategies."
