Two Burglaries in Charles County


BURGLARY: On March 2 at 4:43 a.m., Officer J. Dodge was on patrol in Waldorf when he discovered a window in the Nextel store at 1190 Smallwood Drive West had been damaged. Investigation revealed suspect(s) used a sledge hammer to force entry through the front door after repeatedly beating on a large laminated plate glass window to the right of the door. Once inside, the suspect(s) damaged several display cellular telephones. They fled the store with at least one of the phones, which officers found on the ground near Shoppers Food Warehouse in the same shopping center. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777.


BURGLARY: On March 2 at 2:40 a.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to Village Service Center at 8431 Leonardtown Road in Hughesville for the report of a burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers discovered suspect(s) shattered a window and, after entering the business, stole an undisclosed amount of money from an open cash register drawer. No other items in the store appeared to be disturbed. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer K. Klezia is investigating.
