HATE CRIME: On Feb. 24 at 12:32 p.m., Officer J. Gibson responded to a residence in the 1000 block of Northhampton Drive in La Plata for the report of a hate crime. Investigation revealed someone spray painted a swastika on the residence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-2222. Officer Gibson is investigating.
DRUG POSSESSION: On Feb. 23 at 1 a.m., Officer D. Sauve observed a vehicle strike a concrete median on Crain Highway near Substation Road in Waldorf. He stopped the vehicle and found the driver, Kristopher Lee Makle, 24, of Waldorf was intoxicated. Officer Sauve arrested Makle and a subsequent search revealed Makle was in possession of marijuana. Makle was charged with possession of marijuana and driving under the influence.
THEFT: Sometime between Jan. 27 and Feb. 16, suspect(s) stole a welding machine from a worksite inside the Mattawoman Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at 5334 Hawthorne Road in La Plata. It is described as a Miller Bobcat diesel-powered blue welding machine with the serial number 182203. It is valued at more than $500 and weighs about 900 pounds.
