A La Plata man wanted since early 2004 for possession of child pornography was apprehended in North Carolina recently and has since been transported to Charles County and released from the detention center on bond.
Relatives reported Konrad Frederick Zoll II, 57, missing on Feb. 23, 2004. During that investigation, a search of the home yielded items of child pornography. On March 6, 2004, a district court commissioner issued an arrest warrant for Zoll for two counts of possession of child pornography. His whereabouts remained unknown for the following two years.
Recent information from an anonymous citizen revealed Zoll was in Durham, N.C. The Durham Police Department found Zoll at a post office and arrested him on Jan. 27, 2006. On Feb. 3, Charles County Sheriff's detectives obtained another warrant for Zoll for two counts of child desertion. Initially, Zoll fought extradition but on Feb. 15, he formally waived extradition. On Feb. 21, Charles County Sheriff's Office detectives drove to Durham and took custody of Zoll. They returned him the same day and served the warrants.
Zoll was released from the Charles County Detention Center on Feb. 27 on a $55,000 bond.
Det. C. Bean investigated.
