The Board of Commissioners for St. Mary's County is pleased to announce that Ms. Christy Holt Chesser has been appointed as County Attorney, effective March 20, 2006.
Ms. Chesser brings to St. Mary's County extensive knowledge and experience in the field of law and in the court system of St. Mary's County. She was most recently employed as a partner in the firm Densford and Chesser, Attorneys at Law. Previous employment includes sole proprietor of her own law practice, Christy Holt Chesser Attorney at Law, located in Leonardtown, from 1999 to 2005, positions as Assistant State's Attorney and Deputy State's Attorney in the Office of the State's Attorney for St. Mary's County, from 1989 to 1998, a position as Judicial Clerk for the Circuit Court for St. Mary's County, from 1987 to 1989, and a position as Law Clerk/Associate Attorney for the Law Offices of Karen H. Abrams, from 1985 to 1987.

Ms. Chesser received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland, School of Law, and holds a Bachelors Degree in English Literature from Washington College, Chestertown, Maryland. She was admitted to the Maryland Bar Association in 1985 and to the Federal Bar, United States District Court for the District of Maryland, in 1986.
