02/06/06 6:40 a.m. A 1991 Acura Integra being operated by German Shancez Escobar, 31 years, of Suitland, was traveling southbound on MD 5 south of Poplar Hill Road. Mr. Escobar lost control of the vehicle hit the curb and traveled into the northbound lane where he struck a 2005 Dodge Durango being operated by Michael Paul Hogland, 52 years, of La Plata. Mr. Hogland's vehicle then struck a concrete barrier. A passenger in Mr. Escobar's vehicle, unknown name at this time, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene. Mr. Escobar received incapacitating injuries and was flown to Prince George's Hospital by Maryland State Police helicopter, Trooper 2. Mr. Hogland refused treatment on the scene. Alcohol was not a contributing factor in this accident. The road was closed for approximately 2 hours while the accident was being investigated. Tpr. C. Stevenson of the La Plata Barrack and TFC J.
