Head-On Leaves One Dead in Calvert


On Monday, February 06, 2006 at approximately 12:55 a.m., a 2002 Ford Ranger was traveling north in the southbound lanes of MD Rte. 2/4 near the intersection of Solomons Island Road. The Ford Ranger struck head-on a 1989 Ford Tempo that was heading south. Aaron A. Mayhew, 23, of Beltsville, the driver of the Tempo, was transported by Dunkirk Company 5 to Calvert Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ranger, Mark K. Hirshman, Jr., 27, of Clinton, was flown by MSP helicopter to the P.G. Shock Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is currently under investigation by the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.
