Tip Leads Calvert Sheriff Arrest for Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, and Marijuana

On January 31, members of the Calvert Investigative Team Narcotic Unit were tipped off that a suspect driving an older model dark colored Chevy Caprice would be distributing controlled dangerous substances in Calvert County. Surveillance was established and a vehicle fitting the description was located at West Ward Road in Dunkirk. A traffic stop was initiated by K-9 Unit Dfc. K. Gregory.

A strong odor of marijuana was detected as the officer approached the drivers’ side window. Dfc. Gregory’s drug detection canine, Robbie, scanned the vehicle and showed a positive alert to the presence of a controlled dangerous substance in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and the driver, later identified as John R. Williams III, 24, of Upper Marlboro, revealed a significant amount of cocaine, crack cocaine, and marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia.

Williams was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, cocaine and marijuana and other associated charges. He was incarcerated pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
