The Charles County Sheriff's Office served an additional warrant Jan. 26 as part of a warrant sweep conducted between 4 p.m. and midnight Jan. 25.
During the operation, the Sheriff's Office attempted to arrest a 26-year-old Aquasco man who was wanted for theft but officers could not locate him. When family members advised him the Sheriff's Office had been looking for him, he turned himself in.
More than a dozen people were arrested in the operation. Eighteen officers from the Judicial Services Section, the Tactical Response Squad and the Maryland State Police and two correctional officers participated in the sweep.
The Jan. 26 arrest brings to eight the total number of circuit court warrants served during the operation. Police also served 16 district court warrants, three criminal summons and an out-of-county warrant. The warrants were for thefts, assaults, traffic violations, child support violations, narcotics violations and contempt of court charges.
Anyone who has information about a wanted person should call the Warrant Fugitive Unit at 301-932-3065 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. or 301-932-2222 during other hours.
