24 Y/O Crosses Center Line & Causes Head-on, 61 Y/O Victim Dead


On Jan. 24 at 1:56 p.m., a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by Michael Lee Payne, 24, of Waldorf was traveling north on Huntington Circle near Heathcote Road in Waldorf when his vehicle crossed the center line. It struck a 1990 Toyota Corolla traveling south on Huntington Circle and being driven by Jemmott Glenaster Harris, 61, of Waldorf. Harris and Payne were both transported to Civista Medical Center, where Harris was pronounced dead a short time later. Speed and driver error are believed to be factors in the crash. Cpl. S. Burrows of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating the crash.
