Armed Robbery in Lexington Park Plays Out like Greek Tragedy

Patrol Officers responded to a Lexington Park hotel for the reported armed robbery. Upon arrival contact was made with the victim, (undisclosed name) who was bleeding heavily from the head. Medical treatment was summons and the victim was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations responded and assumed the investigation.

The victim advised that he received a large amount of money related to a recent sale of property and the suspect had knowledge of this. The victim elected to maintain control of the funds by carrying the cash on his person. Suspect Ronald Devon Young (Age 32 of Loveville) approached the victim and ordered him to hand the money over. The victim refused and Suspect Young produced a knife and again ordered the victim to give him money. The victim provided the Suspect with $50.00 and the Suspect fled. Suspect Young was apprehended and the knife and the clothing worn in the robbery were recovered.

Shortly thereafter, the victim relocated to another Lexington Park hotel and while traveling out to retrieve food made contact with Suspect Christina Beggs of Lexington Park. The two began to consume alcohol in the victim's hotel room as the Suspect made several calls. The Suspect requested that the victim accompany her to the lobby area as she was expecting a ride. Once outside the hotel room three (3) black males approached the victim, one displaying a handgun and demanded money. The other two assaulted and began to hold the victim as the third placed the weapon to his head and unsuccessfully tried to shoot the victim. The victim was struck repeatedly with a handgun causing head injuries and lacerations to the face. The Suspects took the victim's money and wallet before fleeing the scene.

Information was developed and a search and seizure warrant was executed on a third Lexington Park hotel. Inside the room Detectives found a white female and black male. Neither of the occupants were related to the crime, however, James "Popeye" Gough was found to be wanted. A quantity of marijuana and cocaine was recovered from the room as well as evidence from one of the robberies. Evidence located in the room led to Suspect James Waters (Age 25 of St. Inigoes) and Suspect Christina Beggs (Age 27 of Park Hall) being identified as well as several others. Suspect Beggs was located in the Leonardtown area shortly before Suspect Waters was located. Both were charged with Armed Robbery and additional charges are expected, pending a State's Attorney's Office review. Detectives are currently searching for additional suspects and following more leads. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Solvers for a potential reward.
