Nanjemoy Man Dead in Alcohol-Related Accident


Speed and alcohol appear to be factors and he was not wearing his seatbelt

On Jan. 1 at approximately 1:14 a.m., a Dodge Caravan driven by Paul Wayne Shifflett, 31, of Nanjemoy was traveling north in the 10700 block of Maryland Point Road in Nanjemoy when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and overturned. Shifflett was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed and alcohol appear to be factors and he was not wearing his seatbelt. Officer R. Taylor of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigating the crash.
