On Dec. 27 at 12:30 a.m., a 54-year-old man heard a noise in front of his residence in the 3700 block of Merseyside Place in Waldorf, went outside and observed a suspect in his truck. When the suspect saw the man, the suspect fled to a vehicle occupied by three other suspects and the vehicle fled. Officers searched the area and located the vehicle on Holton Woods Drive in Waldorf. Sgt. J. Powell observed one of the suspects looking into parked vehicles.
Further investigation revealed one of the suspects matched the description of the suspect seen in the truck on Merseyside Place and the suspects were in possession of bricks and screwdrivers. All four suspects were arrested.
They were identified as Washington D.C. boys, ages 13 and 16, and a 17-year-old boy and Darnell Ikea Barnes, 18, both of Bryans Road. They were charged with theft scheme less than $500, theft more than $500, theft of a motor vehicle, malicious destruction of property more than $500, destruction of property more than $500, rogue and vagabond and auto theft conspiracy. Barnes is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. The juveniles were released to their parents. Officer C. Gass investigated.
