St. Mary's Sheriff Cracks Down on Commercial Vehicles


On 12-28-05 members of the St. Mary's Sheriff's Office, specially trained in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, conducted random inspections in various locations throughout St. Mary's County. As result of the inspections, 2 commercial trucks were put out of service, 3 citations were written, and one (1) person was arrested.

Arrested was Joseph A. Keith, age 25 of Callaway. for driving a dump truck in the Great Mills area while his driver's privilege in Maryland is suspended and revoked.

The Sheriff's Office has obtained a Federally funded grant to conduct Commercial Vehicle Truck inspections and reduce the number of accidents involving commercial vehicles and to ensure compliance with all truck safety Motor Vehicle Laws.

Investigating officers were, Senior Deputy First Class Harold Young and Deputy First Class Michael Peacher.
