School Administrator in St. Mary's County Arrested for Sexual Offense with Student


The Bureau of Criminal Investigations received information that an administrator at a private school in the St. Mary's County area was having contact with a student that was sexual in nature. The female student was subjected to contact, on a consistent basis, whereas the administrator was making sexual advances towards her. These contacts were in person, through cellular phone and in private.

The administrator had, at times, temporary care and custody of the victim. An operation was set into motion and additional information was obtained. The suspect, Henry Dee Barrington (age 44 of Waldorf, Md.) entered a local hotel to rent a room with the intention of a sexual encounter with the student. Detectives were conducting surveillance at the predetermined location and the Suspect was apprehended. Suspect Barrington was charged with one (1) count of sexual abuse to a minor and one (1) of Sexual Offense in the 4th degree. Suspect Barrington is currently awaiting a hearing before the District Court Commissioner. He was served a peace order issued by the District Court Commissioner to refrain from contacting the juvenile and must remain off the school grounds. A hearing is scheduled in regards to the Peace Order on December 22nd, 2005 at 1030 in District Court.

The St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations is an investigative team comprised of Detectives from the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office and the Maryland State Police, Leonardtown Barrack. The unit was established on July 1, 2003 and is based in Leonardtown, Maryland.
