The 2006 St. Mary's County Technology Handbook is now available for distribution. The 2006 publication is the largest compilation of technology companies, resources and educational organizations in its eleven-year history.
Listing 229 companies, the handbook features cover artwork designed and produced by Thomas Proctor of American Electronics, Inc (Amelex) of California. Mr. Proctor was recognized by the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, and received a $500 award from The Patuxent Partnership for submitting the winning entry. Bob Allen, President, The Patuxent Partnership, credits the handbook for an important role in the development of St. Mary's County technology business cluster. Mr. Allen is manager of the local Lockheed Martin Information Systems office.
"The Technology Handbook is an excellent tool offered by the County to promote technology resources and educational opportunities available, encourage partnering opportunities among local technical companies, and market St. Mary's County as a technology area," said Thomas F. McKay, President, St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners.
The Technology Handbook is available online at www.stmarysmd.com/decd. An interactive online database allows users to sort companies alphabetically and by type, eg., woman-Owned, Small, HUB-zoned, SDB, Veteran-Owned.
