In October, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Wicomico Shores Golf Course Advisory Board's recommendation to proceed with plans to renovate and expand the Golf Course Clubhouse. The planned project is expected to expand the upper level of the facility and relocate the golf shop and food and beverage operation upstairs near the existing banquet room. The lower level of the building will be renovated to accommodate golf carts and storage.
A Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) was recently advertised to solicit interest from general contractors. Contractors will be given an opportunity to visit the Clubhouse on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, to learn more about the project and have until January 20 to submit letters of interest to the County. An evaluation process will be used to pre-select the most qualified contractor to work with the County to complete the project through a design/build process. The Clubhouse renovation and expansion is anticipated to cost between $1 million and $1.5 million and will be paid for entirely from golf course revenues.
