Sheriff David D. Zylak extends a personal invitation to attend the "fifth" Sheriffs Office Citizens Academy which will commence on January 19th, 2006. The academy is designed to give an inside look into our day-to-day operation.
Who Can Attend? Anyone over the age of 18 interested in attending the Sheriffs Office Citizens Academy is welcome to apply. Applications are accepted for all future academies as well. Just complete an application form and deliver it to the St. Marys County Sheriffs Office or drop it in the mail. The application will be processed and you will be contacted when the class is scheduled to begin.
When and Where? The free classes are held at the Sheriffs Office Headquarters at 23150 Leonard Hall Drive in Leonardtown. The 6-week course is held on Thursdays, in 3-hour sessions. Currently, there are three (3) academies offered each year Winter, Spring and Fall. The next session is scheduled to begin on Thursday, January 19th, 2006 at 6:00 p.m.
So, come join the fun and reserve your seat to learn exciting facts about the K-9 Unit, Emergency Services Team, Crime Lab, Accreditation, Uniform Patrol, Administration, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Communications/911, States Attorneys Office, Parole and Probation, Community Policing and Corrections to just name a few.
