The Charles County Commissioners are pleased to announce that the Charles County Office of Tourism has received two marketing awards from the Maryland Tourism Council, presented recently at the Governor's Tourism Industry Conference.
The awards were for Best Visitors Guide, which was designed and produced in conjunction with Ginny Keys of DesignWired, and the Southern Maryland Bicycle Map, produced in conjunction with the Southern Maryland Travel and Tourism Committee. This brochure received the Cooperative Promotion Award.
"These awards exemplify the professionalism of our Office of Tourism, which promoted a more than $79.5 million visitor and travel industry in the County in 2004 that generated $3.9 million in local tax receipts, an 11.6% and 11.1% increase over 2003, respectively," said the County Commissioners.
"We are very proud that the efforts of the Charles County Office of Tourism were recognized by our peers," said Tourism Director Joanne Roland.
