Charles County Sheriff's Report


BURGLARY: Sometime between 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 and 5:30 a.m. Dec. 8, suspect(s) forced entry into Grey Brothers Store at 4000 Chicamuxen Road in Marbury through a side window and stole multiple cartons of cigarettes. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-743-2222. Officer R. A. Gilroy is investigating.

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Dec. 7 at 11:17 a.m., a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Richard Eugene Drennan, 36, of Indian Head was traveling south on St. Patrick's Drive in Waldorf. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Smallwood Drive, the driver failed to stop for traffic signal and struck a Toyota Corolla traveling east on Smallwood Drive. The driver of the Corolla, Sandra Creighton, 65, of Waldorf, sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported to Civista Medical Center. Drennan sustained a minor injury and was not transported for treatment. No charges have been filed. Officer R. D. Snyder is investigating the crash.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY: On Dec. 6 at 5:52 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to a residence in the 6300 block of Beaver Court in Waldorf for the report of an attempted armed robbery. Investigation revealed a 40-year-old man who lives at the residence was at his mailbox when another man approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded money. The victim fled on foot to a neighbor's house, where he notified police of the incident. Officers responded and searched for the suspect but did not locate him. The suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 22 years of age. He is about 6 feet tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has corn row-styled hair. He was wearing blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a tan jacket. Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff's Office at 301-932-7777. Officer D. Sauve is investigating.

ASSAULT: On Dec. 5 at approximately 8:24 p.m., Charles County Sheriff's officers responded to the parking lot of St. Charles Towne Center at 11110 Mall Circle in Waldorf for the report of a group of people about to fight. Investigation revealed a 19-year-old Waldorf man and Joseph Larnell Pierson, 23, of La Plata were involved in an argument when Pierson struck the other man with a tire iron. Pierson then fled the scene in a red Pontiac Grand Am. Shortly thereafter, officers located the vehicle leaving the parking lot of the mall and conducted a traffic stop. Officers arrested Pierson and charged him with first- and second-degree assault. He was released from the Charles County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. Officer J. Timko investigated.
