Teen Gang Jump Ends in Stabbing


On December 4, 2005 at 2141 hours, Road patrol personnel responded to Flower Drive, Lexington Park, MD for a reported assault. The St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations was contacted and assumed the investigation.

Investigation revealed that the four male juvenile suspects (two 17 year olds, one 16 year old and one 15 year old) from Lexington Park, MD approached the victim, Andrew Newingham, 18 years old of Lexington Park, and asked him for a cigarette. The victim refused and the suspects proceeded to physically assault him. While the victim was being assaulted by all four suspects, he stabbed one of the 17 year old suspects in the back with a small pocket knife.

The injured suspect was transported to PG Shock Trauma by Trooper 7. The other three suspects were charged by BCI with 2nd degree assault. Charges are pending against the third juvenile once he his released from PG Shock Trauma. Investigation continues by BCI.
