A Florida man is alive today, thanks to the rescue efforts of Richard Holden of St. Mary's County and David Pensky of Annapolis.
Rogers Washington's boat had sunk off the coast of Boca Raton. His companion had died of a heart attack, possibly brought on by fear of a circling shark. Holden and Pensky saw Washington frantically waving, floating with the aid of a cooler lid and a life vest, and pulled him out of the drink.
